Create a material selection
Build a material selection with options for your client to compare and approve — add a recommended pick, notes, and a deadline.
How do I create a material selection?
A material selection is a small set of options — say three faucet choices — that you send a client to approve. In the selection builder, give the selection a title, add each option (name, price, photo, link), mark one as recommended, and add an intro note and a decision deadline. Once it has at least one option, send it to the client for sign-off.
Material selections turn back-and-forth texts into one clean decision. The client sees the options side by side, you flag your recommendation, and their approval is recorded — so there's no confusion later about what was chosen.
Build a selection step by step
- 1Start a selection on a project
A material selection belongs to a project. Open the project's Materials tab and start a new selection — you'll land in the builder.
- 2Name and describe the selection
Add a title (e.g. "Kitchen faucet"), an optional category, an intro note for the client, and a decision deadline.
- 3Add options
Click Add option for each choice. Enter the name, price, photo, and a product link if you have one.
- 4Mark your recommendation
Flag the option you'd recommend so the client knows your pick at a glance. The sidebar tracks how many options and how many recommendations you've added.
- 5Send to the client
When at least one option is added, click Send to client and confirm. The selection is now locked from editing while the client reviews.
Pasting a product URL can pull in the name, price, and image automatically, so you don't have to type each option from scratch.
You can only edit a selection while it's a draft. Once it's sent, the builder is read-only — create a new selection if you need to offer different options.
Two to four works best — enough to give a real choice without overwhelming the client. You need at least one option before you can send.
Yes. Add a deadline in the builder header. It shows on the selection so the client knows when you need their answer.
A sent selection can't be edited. Create a fresh selection with the corrected options and send that one instead.
